Important Terms and Conditions

Vaccines
o Different providers, whether a veterinarian or breeder or other individual, often have very strong opinions on vaccines: what should be given, when they should be given, how many should be given, and how the vaccines ought to be administered. Here at Doctors Pet Clinic, we rely on the best medical evidence about what is safe and effective for your pet. To that end, we follow the latest guidelines issued by the veterinary hospital at UC Davis. These guidelines are informed by published studies and recommendations made by well-respected task forces taking into consideration the benefits versus risks of currently-available vaccines. For more information, please see https://healthtopics.vetmed.ucdavis.edu/health-topics/feline/vaccination-guidelines-dogs-and-cats.
o Most pets do not experience vaccine reactions. However, like a flu vaccine in humans, it is not uncommon for a pet to have mild to moderate pain at the injection site or a mild fever that can make them feel unwell for 12-24 hours. Occasionally, more serious reactions can occur within a short time after receiving the vaccination. Please see our handout on vaccinations for more details. It is very important that you call us if you believe your pet is having a vaccine reaction. We can advise you on the steps you need to take. Pets with a puppy or kitten package will not be charged an urgent care or emergency exam fee in the case of a confirmed vaccine reaction as determined by the attending veterinarian. Any recommended services or therapy will be charged at the normal rate (discount applies with the Starter Plus packages). If your pet is unwell after hours, please seek emergency care.

Examinations
o Free wellness examinations are available as part of the vaccination appointments; once the vaccine series is completed, no further wellness examinations are included.
o Additional examinations, including sick/injured pet examinations or additional wellness examinations, are not included and will be charged at the normal rate (discount applies with the Starter Plus packages).

Medications and Additional Services
o Many puppies and kittens do not require medications during their growth phase; however, in some instances they may be warranted such as if your pet has an intestinal parasite or becomes unwell. Medications and other therapies or services that may be recommended if your pet has a medical need for them are charged at the normal rate (discount applies with the Starter Plus packages).

Food, Retail Items, and Specialty Services Excluded
o Pet food (including prescription pet food), treats, and retail (over-the-counter) items such as over-the-counter shampoos, ear cleansers, supplements, and similar non-prescription items do not qualify for a discount as part of the Starter Plus Packages. Similarly, services offered by specialists such as radiology or cardiology consultations/services/reports, orthopedic consultations/services, specialty surgeries, aftercare services (e.g., cremation), and other services for which the hospital is billed by a third party do not qualify for a discount as part of the Starter Plus Packages.

Time Period & Refunds
o There are NO REFUNDS on packages once any services have been provided as part of the package and you have completed your first visit. If you change your mind and would like a refund, you must request it and receive it BEFORE you conclude your first visit.
o It is your responsibility to complete the recommended vaccination series in a timely manner. Unused vaccines are forfeited once the pet reaches 1 year of age regardless of whether you declined a particular vaccine or failed to complete a series for any reason. No portion of the package fee will be refunded for unused vaccines.
o Certain tests, medications, and services are offered as part of the wellness packages. These items, if unused, are forfeited once the pet reaches 1 year of age, regardless of whether you declined the items or failed to complete/request them in a timely manner. This includes but is not limited to fecal testing, microchip placement, and preventative medications. No portion of the package fee will be refunded for unused items or services.
o Discounts on spay/neuter and sick/injured services will be honored until the pet reaches 1 year of age. Please plan accordingly and schedule your pet’s spay/neuter to be completed before 1 year of age. In most cases, we recommend spay/neuter at age 6 months.
