Laurie Koorhan, DVM
Dr. Koorhan’s interest in veterinary medicine began as a high school student working in a pet store. In college she attended a class entitled “Veterinary Hospital Practice,” taught at a large veterinary referral practice in Southern California. After completing this course she joined the staff of the hospital, developing her skills as a technician. It soon became clear that a career in veterinary medicine was the path she wanted to take, and from that point on she focused her studies on fulfilling the education and work requirements needed for acceptance into veterinary school.
In 1985, Dr. Koorhan was accepted to the University of California at Davis School of Veterinary Medicine. In 1989 she graduated and completed an internship program at Coast Pet Clinic of Hermosa Beach, California. There she furthered her knowledge and experience in the fields of internal medicine, surgery, oncology, emergency and general medicine.
In 1991, Dr. Koorhan and her family opened Doctors Pet Clinic in Murrieta, California. In 2004, doors to a beautiful new building opened allowing her practice of medicine to continue to grow, keeping up with new advances in medicine and technology to ensure the very best for your pet.
Amber Brown, DVM
Dr. Brown grew up in southern California and since she was 5 years old she dreamed of becoming a veterinarian to help animals and the people who love them. She remained focused and earned an animal science degree with a concentration in pre-veterinary medicine from Cal Poly, San Luis Obispo in 2004. She went on to receive her doctorate in veterinary medicine from the only veterinary school in southern California, Western University of Health Sciences, in 2009.
Dr. Brown was immediately accepted into the respected internship at California Animal Hospital in Los Angeles and trained under the guidance of multiple specialists in such areas including internal medicine, surgery, cardiology, emergency medicine and neurology.
While at Doctors Pet Clinic, Dr. Brown has further developed her skills and interest in dentistry, having the privilege of learning from veterinary dental specialists. She also has a strong special interest in small pocket pets after rescuing two rabbits while in college. She is currently the proud guardian to her two cats, “Pinky” and “Junior”.
Registered Veterinary Technicians (RVT)
Brandi Shepperd RVT
Brandi has had a passion for animals since she could remember. She always owned different types of pets from small rodents, reptiles to cats and dogs. Brandi currently has 4 dogs, 2 cats and a guinea pig. She loves her fur babies. She obtained her veterinary technician degree in 2013 at Carrington College and is a licensed technician (RVT). Brandi started here at Doctors Pet Clinic 2014 and is loving learning everything we have to offer.
Steve Armitage RVT
Steve’s passion for animals happened more by chance than desire. At the age of 15 he decided to take a job as a ranch hand instead of playing high school football. It wasn’t long before Steve was helping to break, train, exercise, and show cutting horses. It was then that Steve started following the Equine Vet around during his visits and taking a big interest in the medicine side of things. School brought Steve to southern California, where he attended Cal Poly Pomona, initially seeking a degree in the Equine Industry, but after deciding that horses hurt too much, he joined the Pre-Vet program. It was then that he got his first job as a Technician Assistant at Doctors Pet Clinic. His interests in the medicinal side again kicked in, and it wasn’t long before he was asking questions and learning all he could about the Technician world. After deciding he liked what he saw, he again switched majors and joined the Animal Health Science program, allowing him to pursue his BS and eventually become a Veterinary Technologist. Since joining DPC 7 years ago, Steve has moved up from technician assistant to the technician position, a title he still shares today. In an attempt to broaden his knowledge base, in the last year Steve has also taken a second job as an ER/Critical Care Technician at California Veterinary Specialist-Ontario. In the next few months Steve hopes to finish his last class and sit for the RVT exam. In his rare spare time, Steve enjoys spending time with his 2 year old daughter, and expecting wife.
Kaeley Scott RVT
Kaeley grew up in a family that always had pets, which ignited a passion for animals at a young age. Her Dad’s love of animals, and his answer of “yes” whenever asked for a new pet, (despite her mom’s answer of “no”) taught her compassion for all kinds of creatures from cats and dogs, to tarantulas, snakes and rats. Kaeley always knew she would end up in a field that involved animals somehow, and obtained her RVT license in 2015. In her spare time she can be found at the BMX track supporting her son’s passion for racing.
I am so excited to be back with the amazing Doctor’s Pet Clinic staff after leaving in 2003 to be a stay at home mom. I have missed working with all the wonderful animals and their great owners . At home we have our sweet Spike and Jaxxx .

I am a California native born and raised in San Diego. I moved to the Murrieta/Temecula valley back in 1993. I started working for Doctor’s Pet Clinic in 2012 as a front desk representative where I learned my deep love of cats and kittens and how to care for them including newborns that didn’t have their mother. After a 3 year absence, I have returned to my DPC family where I am truly blessed. My husband and I complete our fur household with three cats, one dog and a menagerie of foster cats and kittens.
My name is Tricia and I have been the Practice Manager since May of 2011. I have been working in veterinary medicine since 1999. This team truly has the heart for patient and client care!
